Total Organic Cabon (Gesamter organisch gebundener Kohlenstoffstoff). Summe vom DOC Dissolved Organic Carbon (Gesamter gelöster organischer Kohlenstoff) und ungelöstem organisch gebundenen Kohlenstoff.

Weitere ® Summenparameter sind der TIC Total Inorganic Carbon
(Gesamter anorganischer Kohlenstoff) und der TC Total Carbon (Gesamtkohlenstoff)

Zur Bestimmung wird eine Wasserprobe im Sauerstoffstrom oder durch Nassoxidation oxidiert und das entstehende Kohlendioxid z.B. infrarotspektroskopisch bestimmt.
